This week was good: full of more splits, helping sisters who were sick / fighting with their companion / not getting along / trying to get out of doing splits, and it was all lovely. We had a great zone conference with those from Tegucigalpa and Danli, and saw lots of hermanas I really love. We also had a super awesome missionary activity planned for Saturday which was cancelled at the last minute, and that was less than awesome. But here we go, siempre en la lucha like the Catrachos say [always in the fight, like those from Honduras say].

This week we will continue to help Hermano Humberto prepare for his baptism. We still are amazed at his progress, his desires to change, and the support from the ward. He is excited and ready for his baptism on Saturday, so everyone cross your fingers. 

Today we went to Valle de Angeles again where we hiked to the waterfalls, bought some recuerdos [souvenirs], and ate some delicious pupusas. 

Things are good here and I am learning lots. There are lots of things I want to change and be better at. A lot of my thoughts this week are how I can be a better servant of Jesus Christ, putting behind me my own fears, habits, likes, and dislikes. I am so grateful for the Atonement and for the opportunities I have always to be better. I am so grateful for the changes I have been able to see in the lives of those around me as well when they come to the knowledge of our Lord and Savior.

I saw a billboard today that says, 'No matter who is president, Jesus Christ is our King' and I really liked that. That's for all of you worried about the election I keep hearing about.

Zone conference - Tegucigalpa & Danli

This week was really great! Some things -

1. Thursday we went to the temple! It was so great, and something I really needed. I am so grateful for the peace and spirit that we can feel in the temple, it really helps the dust settle. Also that day the stake from Danli was there, so I got to see some of my favorite people. After the session the temple workers let us do some initiatory ordinances, which was a tender mercy. After that we were running out of time and had to get back, so we couldn't take pictures with everyone outside, which was a bummer. So I don't even have photo evidence we were there, but what can you do?

2. Friday we had splits with the Hermanas of Santa Lucia! It was great. They are fantastic hermanas. 

3. Saturday we had a baptism! Jefrey, 12 years old, was a perfect investigator, super prepared, passed his interview with flying colors, and we didn't even have to teach him! He has had almost perfect attendance of more or less 624 Sundays.

  He is a son of an active member family who baptized him when he was 8, but somehow his record got lost so he had to get dunked again. Since he is older than 9 he counted as a convert baptism, even though he's already been pretty converted for a while now. It was a great service and we had lots of support from the ward.

  We also had an investigator show up, Humberto, who really liked it - so it was a success! Afterwards we gave Humberto a tour of the chapel and he felt more comfortable to go for the first time to church yesterday. He loved it, the members were all really great at fellowshipping him, and he accepted his own baptismal date for July 30th. 

This week we have zone conference and more splits, so it should be a good one as well.  I am thankful for the miracles that we witness and for the prayers that have been answered.

Happy Independence Day! 

This week was full of lots of work, study, miracles, disappointments, hot sauce, and laughs.

Tuesday we were doing our studies, and at about ten AM during our language study we got a text from President Bowler, which always makes your heart jump a little. He asked us if we knew that today was leadership council meeting, and why weren't we there? We got all panicky, packed up our stuff, and rushed over to the chapel - which luckily is in our area - but were embarrassed because we arrived late. Apparently no one informed us about the meeting, but it was fine. We received lots of good instruction and motivation, it's always a great thing to be a part of. 

During the meeting for hermana leaders Hermana Bowler informed us that all of the sisters serving in Central America, by mandate of the Area presidency, will be wearing pants for proselyting during rainy seasons [to help protect against the zika virus]. So that was an interesting announcement! At first I thought, no way, I'm not doing that! That's so strange. 

But then we talked about it, realizing that this instruction comes from priesthood leaders and the prophet himself, whom we sustain and believe receives revelation from God, so even though it is a test of our faith we will move forward and be obedient. So anyways.

Also, Tuesday night my companion made me a really great hot sauce that I will be making for the rest of my life. She's the best. 

Wednesday we ran around Tegucigalpa to the clinic for a medical test for my companion, and then to seamstresses to talk about making the pants for us to our specifications, with the purpose that we would need 2 or 3 pairs made for every sister in the mission. We will see how they turn out! 

Friday we started splits again with the sisters of Guaymuras. They are great sisters, one from Colombia and the other from Ecuador, who helped us a lot here in our area. It's always fun to have other sisters in the house; we always enjoy the extra company. 

Today for P-day we went to the home of our stake president where we watched a movie, took pictures with his American flag, and then went to Chili's to eat us some good old American hamburgers. 

I wish you all a wonderful Independence Day! I am so glad to be in Honduras on a mission and for the opportunity to appreciate the US a little more. Mostly I am glad for the freedoms we enjoy and for the place where the true Church of Christ could be restored.
